Repurpose your own YouTube videos into blog posts

If you make videos, you already have hours of written material: every script you spoke is a draft of an article. A blog post from a video reaches people who search Google instead of YouTube, people who prefer reading, and people who find you later when the video has stopped being recommended. This guide shows how to go from transcript to a post that reads like it was written, not transcribed.

1. Get the transcripts of your channel

Paste your channel link into the dashboard and press Start. With Timestamps Off, each video comes out as flowing paragraphs. Download Markdown if your blog takes Markdown (WordPress, Ghost, Hugo, Substack all do) or the Word booklet if you prefer to edit in Word. Next month, press Get new videos under Past jobs to collect only your new uploads.

If you uploaded your own captions, the transcript is already clean. If it is YouTube's automatic track, expect to fix names and add punctuation; see how accurate captions are.

2. Restructure for readers

Spoken and written language are different. A good video script repeats itself, uses "so" and "okay", and refers to things on screen. A good post does none of that. Work through the transcript and:

3. Let an AI assistant do the first pass

Upload one video's transcript and ask: "Rewrite this spoken transcript as a blog post with headings. Keep all the facts and my wording where it is already clear; remove filler; do not add information that is not in the transcript." Then edit the result in your own voice and check every fact against your video. Keep it your writing — readers notice generic AI prose. See analyzing a booklet with AI.

4. Embed the video and link both ways

Embed the video at the top or bottom of the post, and add the post's link to the video description. Readers who want the demonstration can watch; viewers who want the details can read. Both pages benefit in search.

5. Avoid duplicate content

Do not paste a raw transcript as a post. Search engines treat a page of unedited speech as low quality, and readers bounce. A rewritten post with headings, images and your own additions is a different piece of work. If you also publish the full transcript for accessibility, put it in a collapsible section below the post.
